Do you remember
the 70's?
Platform shoes, polyester, bell bottom pants,
flower printed shirts, shades, pompadour hair
and Hai Karate Cologne.
OK, so most of the seventies, you'd like to forget.
But...........
The music was kickin'!
And I'm not talkin' about Disco!
Music from Fabulosos 4,
Latin Breed, Los Buenos,
Los Chachos, Mazz, Tonka, ....
I can go on and on!
For some of us "baby boomers" this was
the real dance music. The music of the era
was lyrical and memorable - and most of all
it was downright true TEJANO!
The original PLAZER BAND evolved
from Los Magnificos Cinco band during the mid seventies.
We were a Chicano/Tejano band.
We performed for high schools, colleges, associations,
and Tejano Community functions in the
Midwest Area. We also performed at nightclubs
and frequently played about 3 nights a week.
Our music was not only danceable...
We were also entertaining!
Since then mid-seventies, other bands were born from Los Magnificos
Cinco like Destino and Brown Sugar which now leads us to PLAZER
BAND today. PLAZER BAND originated
in 1991.
In the beginning of 1991 the original PLAZER
BAND
was formed and still with the band today some of it's original members
like Eddie Acevedo who is the founder/creator and guitar player, and
Rick (Primo) Perez on accordion. Other band members are returning
members like: Vince Cardona on trumpet, Bobby Bustos on sax, Luis
(the lip) Barbosa on trumpet and Aldo Rojas on drums all originally
from Destino Band and Mundo Vega, lead singer is one of the originals
from Los Magnificos Cinco from the mid-seventies!
With this, again we become PLAZER BAND!
Plazer Band has been a strong and exciting
entertainment act throughout the years.
The year 2010 has brought the band into a new era.
While several of our dear members have moved on
to other life challenges, the heart of PLAZER
BAND
remains true to our fans. We are dedicated to
bringing you new experiences of PLAZER BAND
with the old skool feel of Tejano/Chicano music!!
Located in Chicagoland,
but born in Texas and Tejanos at heart! PLAZER
BAND is playing the best Tejano sounds and keeping Tejano Music
alive in the Midwest! PLAZER BAND is
hitting the Midwest area with great original hits as well as some
"Golden Oldies" of the Chicano Sounds of Latin Breed, Los
Chachos, Jessy Serrata and Mazz. These "old skool sounds"
have never been forgotten and PLAZER BAND
is making sure of that! PLAZER BAND is
currently the only 5 piece brass band in the midwest!
PLAZER
BAND's no-nonsense "get-up-and-dance" approach
(coupled with OLD SKOOL SOUNDS and tasty horn licks)
will, as always, make your evening ...
A Night to Remember!
